Larry Davidson is the Alberta Social Credit Party’s candidate for the riding of Drumheller-Stettler. Larry is 45 years old and was born in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan. Larry was raised in Kamloops, BC, where he obtained his provincial welding certificate. After spending 10 years as a paramedic, Larry and his family moved to Drumheller.

Larry Davidson and his wife, Elaina, have operated a small grocery business in Drumheller for the past 11 years. They have raised two children while being very active in the community. Larry has been involved as a volunteer fireman, Chamber of Commerce President, Community Futures board member, Kid Sport director, as well as many minor sport organizations. Giving back to the community is a key part of Larry’s’ value system. Making a positive difference in people’s lives was also a motivator for Larry to get involved in municipal politics.

When Larry Davidson is not working or helping in the community, he enjoys spending his time playing or watching hockey, camping, or playing golf. Larry has played golf in just about every course in the Drumheller-Stettler riding, including Pheasantback (Stettler), Hanna Golf and Country Club (Hanna), Dutchess Golf Course (Dutchess) and Dinosaur Trail Golf and Country Club (Drumheller).

Larry Davidson has served the past five years as a Town Councillor. This has given him the opportunity to look at communities from a larger perspective. Larry has had the benefit of working regionally on many boards such as being vice-chair of the Ambulance Authority, Chair of Subdivision Development Appeal Board, Chair of Palliser Municipal Services in Hanna, and Economic Development. Working as a Councillor has shown Larry the lack of direction and planning from the current provincial government. He has witnessed many provincial government initiatives which are of short duration and lack sustainability, thus failing to provide the needed services with Albertans’ tax dollars.

Larry Davidson believes that our province needs a comprehensive plan for the 21st Century. Larry has demonstrated the ability to provide leadership through consultation and developing plans of action. As Councillor, Larry Davidson always defended the best interests of his constituents, and Larry would continue to do this as MLA for Drumheller-Stettler.

For these reasons, Larry Davidson wants to make a greater difference and run provincially as a Social Credit Candidate. As a long-term conservative, Larry found the provincial government’s policies lacked direction and a social conscience. Looking for an alternative to the PC’s, Larry found the Social Credit Party’s values emulate his own.

Larry Davidson’s goal is to provide a better-managed government that is fiscally responsible; a government that reaches out to help all Albertans. Larry believes that every Albertan deserves to share in the province’s prosperity, as seen during the 36 years of accountable and honest government Alberta previously enjoyed with the Social Credit Party.
