Interview with Trevor Grover, Socred Candidate
for Calgary-Elbow
Q: What do you hear are the top issues for voters
in Calgary-Elbow?
Trevor Grover: Healthcare sustainability, affordable
housing, and education. The environment has also been on everyone's
agenda. Also, some important points that have been brought
up include amateur sports and auto insurance. A more accessible
MLA has been an active topic as well.
Q: Are the residents who had the Premier represent
them receptive to a change in their MLA?
Trevor Grover: Yes. More than half the people I've
spoken to indicate that a change is needed.
Q: What motivates you to run for public office?
Trevor Grover: I've been interested in holding public
office since childhood. Representing my constituents will
be the most effective way to promote the changes necessary
to improve our province and the universal standard of living.
I'm also a people person and politics generally means a lot
of meeting new people. As well, it's time for fresh energy
and revitalization in our tired, old Legislature. My presence
will help revitalize the Legislature and attract fresh energy
and new ideas.
Q: What is the response from residents when you mention
the "Social Credit " name at the door?
Trevor Grover: Positive. We have a solid reputation.
People like the reminder of what this province used to be
under the previous Social Credit governments and the potential
it has for the future under our leadership.
Q: How would your background make you an effective
MLA in Calgary?
Trevor Grover: Growing up, my father frequently took
me on trips, which is where I discovered my love for meeting
new people. After high school, I attended college where I
obtained a diploma in Arts, majoring in Theatre Studies. I
then worked in the oilfield industry and later became an instructor
in the driver training industry. I currently work for an Oilfield
Services company in their Safety Division. This position requires
me to lead and also be receptive to the input of others. That's
the primary quality of mine that will ensure my success if
elected MLA for Elbow; the ability to lead as needed and listen
when necessary.
Q: Why did you choose to run in Calgary Elbow?
Trevor Grover: Elbow is an incredibly diverse riding
with a bright and receptive electorate. I could not think
of a better place to represent as the newest MLA in the Legislature.
It incorporates some of the finest Calgarians around and is
literally the "heart" of the city. The citizens
of Elbow deserve proper representation and I would be pleased
to serve them as their newest edition to the Alberta Government.
Q: What can you do for the people of Calgary Elbow?
Trevor Grover: My biggest task as MLA will be to promote
the responsible allocation of tax dollars. I want to ensure
that the citizens of Elbow are paying the least amount of
taxes and receiving the best value for their buck when it
comes to such services as healthcare, education, and utilities.
Q: What's the most important objectives you would have
as the new MLA for Calgary Elbow?
Trevor Grover: The two that really stand out are public
health and accountability. The Healthcare system in this province
under Social Credit was one of the finest, most effectively
managed and efficient in the WORLD. We need to return to that,
and throwing money at it is not the solution. Trimming the
bureaucracy and redefining how we operate our public health
system is the key. Secondly, Calgary Elbow's citizens are
tired of not having a voice in the Legislature, or at least
one that listens. As a new MLA, I will provide a new energy
and a voice of efficiency and prosperity to ensure that Calgary
Elbows concerns are heard across the province.

any questions or would like to volunteer or donate to his
campaign.
Trevor was born and raised in Alberta, and now
counts himself a proud Calgarian. Growing up and through his
late teens and early twenty's he gained an appreciation for
the majesty of our province through diverse travel and work
in horticulture, the oil industry and currently as an instructor
with Young Drivers and Schlumberger Oilfield Services.
A rich and diverse experience, combined with a sound knowledge
of economics makes Trevor Grover an ideal choice for the citizens
of Calgary Elbow. He lives by a simple rule: "Be the
change you want to see in the world" and that is why
he seeks to represent the constituents of Elbow, to give back
to the community of Calgary that has helped shape his life
in many positive ways.
